Another condor trip

We went up the mountain again, this time my daughter rode along, and we had quite some fun.

She saw some prints that may belong to some big animal maybe even a bear... who knows?

The RRC behave perfectly after passing the smog a few days ago with flying colors.

Great day outdoors, just what I needed.

PD: I got confirmation of those being bear tracks.

Alcaraz, post Nacional CLRTTE, with the Series

One of the things I am looking forward whenever I am in Spain is to take the Land Rover Series III places and have fun with it. Today I took it offroad and had a great time with some friends from the CLRTTE.

I wasn't completely sure the poor Series was going to be up for it, it's old, and it's lonely. Barely used around the year, maybe a couple of weeks or so, I was fearing something would go really bad if I tried to drive it anywhere, but.... it proved once again, LR Series are some really though little trucks: it went all the way to Alcaraz, then did the obstacle course, some mountain roads and back home, without a problem... the A/C was not an option (or power steering back then) but despite the stupidly hot weather, we made it!

So let me share some pictures and explanations of the activities today.

Visiting the off-road area from the National CLRTTE event and of course, trying some of it..

Then we went around, to visit some of the surrounding areas, lots of fun.

This is an old bullfighting ring, I think I showed this before, still quite interesting to hang around...

We visited our friends at Talleres Chutena, their ongoing Series III pickup with 200Tdi and disco brakes is well on its way...

No matter where you go, a Land Rover will bring you (almost) always home... still the Series kind of looks out of place around town...

And remember, real men use 4 levers :)

Thanks to Manolo, Jorge and Mario for a great day (and some of the pictures)

Enjoying the Series

Visiting Spain and catching up with old friends and family people or machines :)

Planning a little trip to Alcaraz with Elpana, maybe this weekend. I also got to drive the td5 110, great machine, I *love* it.

The old guy, is still working great, started up in less than 10 seconds and now in barely a second.

It's so hot that some of the old caked grease is melting... well maybe some small leak helps.

More to come.

Helping with condors

One of the things I love to do, is to find ways to help some cause I care about that involves Land Rovers and offroading, being it helping fix a bridge or helping as a Condor volunteer

So this is my new venture, trying to help observe this big and fragile birds.

They have good taste with their trucks too:

My observation point.

Views around here are very nice...

The observation point from the other side...

The RRC came back home like a champ.

Oh and the chick is now big, still sleepy most of the time, but in good health.

Lake Arrowhead

I had the opportunity to take the RRC offroad, it's been a while.

We had quite a bit of snow, snow chains were required from about 3000 ft., but I was OK with the mud tires only.

A bit of snow and ice, make if for extra fun driving... although the many cars that crashed into something or had to give up the car for loss of traction may think it wasn't that much fun...

On the trails (we did together Willow Creek and just me Pilot Rock) the RRC performed amazingly well, TC worked as it should and the VC on the transfer didn't give me any headaches. I know the viscous is a pain, but I must say that when it works the Borg/Warner is a great transfer.

No damage to the car and everyone had fun, so let me post some of the pictures for your enjoyment.

Some pictures are from our friend Alex and some are from my phone, our camera decided to die...
